There IS no way. I suggest getting a Halo 3 edition 360 or the Elite version.

i heard the elite had problems straight out of the box.

Okey doke, Lemme shed some light on RROD. 
If you have a normal or arcade 360, you have a 30% chance of getting RROD.
If you have a falcon 360,(Halo 3 or Elite), you have a 10% chance of getting RROD.
Ways to prevent RROD: Place your 360 vertically instead of horizontally. Put your 360 in an open space. Give your 360 breaks to cool off every hour or so.
